1. Networking overview

To build a complete ZigBee mesh network includes two steps: network initialization and node joining. The node joining the network includes two steps: connecting with the coordinator and accessing the network through the existing parent node.

There are three nodes in ZigBee Network: terminal node, router node and pan coordinator node

Node function:

Coordinator node: ZigBee coordinator is the information gathering point of each node in the network and the core node of the network. It is responsible for the establishment, maintenance and management of the network, and realizes the data transmission between each node and the upper computer through the serial port; the ZigBee coordinator has strong communication ability, processing ability and transmission ability, and can send data to the remote control terminal.

Router node: it is responsible for forwarding data packets, finding routing paths and maintaining routes, allowing nodes to join the network and assisting their sub nodes to communicate; router node is the relay between terminal node and coordinator node, which relays the communication between terminal node and coordinator node.

Terminal node: the terminal node can be directly connected to the coordinator node, or can be connected to the coordinator node through the router node.
